Call to Junior SASH players
9 July 2007
Dear All
As some of you may be aware Guy Niblett has recently stepped down from the post of SASH Junior Manager. I am pleased to inform you that I have been co-opted onto the SASH committee to undertake this role.
Tony Milton has kindly agreed to stay on as the team’s coach.
At the moment there is very little firm information of what is actually happening regarding a competition although it is rumoured that an event will take place in September 2007possibly in SE England, but this is only a rumour, as soon as I have more information I will let you all know. You may care to view the BiSHA web site.
Regarding the team selection I can let you know:
1. Only those who attend trials will be eligible for selection.
2. Attendance at trials is open to all eligible players and I would like to encourage as many as possible to attend. Please note that the team will represent SASH and as such it will contain the players available to make the strongest team.
3. Team selection will be made by the coach.
4. No selection has yet been made.
5. The trials session that took place at Wheatley will form part of the selection process.
6. The intention is to undertake at least one further trial, followed by training session(s). But everyone will be aware that we are rapidly approaching the summer holiday period so it may be difficult to arrange times when everyone will be able to attend, but please note item one above.
7. After the trials the size of the squad will be reduced.
Money! Unfortunately, there are no funds available so all events need to be self funding so I shall be asking for fees from all attendees. They will be set at a level to cover costs on each occasion, so as the size of the squad reduces fees will need to increase. Depending on location hall hire costs vary from £80 to £120 for a two hour session. The tournament entry costs are likely to be in the order of £150 per team.
Please note that I am new to this post and am endeavouring to do the best for the players. I apologise now in advance should (when!) I make any mistakes! Please bear with me and if you have any suggestions please contact me. But time is not on our side and we are playing “catch-up”, so unfortunately, there may be occasions when notice of events is short. I realise that we all lead very busy lives and that there is life outside hockey so I will try and give you all as much advance warning as possible. I am trying to organise sessions for the weekend of 21 and 22 July, location to be advised.
Regards
Matthew Crowder
